Muller is drawn to materials with fixed associations and the possibility of seeing them differently. In her current work, chainmail becomes a way to explore the tension between protection and openness. Historically used as armor, the material is reimagined as something delicate, fluid, and permeable to light. The work asks whether strength and softness can exist within the same form.
